The official price of broiler chicken meat has been reduced by Rs. 14 per kilogram, bringing the rate down from Rs. 446 to Rs. 432 per kg, according to the latest government pricing update.
Despite this official reduction, consumers are still facing overcharging in many local markets, where chicken meat is reportedly being sold for as high as Rs. 450 per kg—significantly above the regulated rate.
The new wholesale rate for live broiler chicken has been fixed at Rs. 284 per kg, while the official retail price is Rs. 298 per kg. However, the enforcement of these prices appears to be weak, as many vendors continue to violate the pricing regulations, prompting frustration among citizens.
