Nishat Motors is gearing up to introduce the JAECOO J5 in Pakistan, expanding its portfolio following a busy year of model launches. The company entered the local market in August with two electric SUVs—the JAECOO J6 and OMODA E5—followed by the locally assembled JAECOO J7 PHEV in October.

While the hybrid J5 has yet to launch globally, plans for a 2026 rollout in South Africa indicate that Pakistan could be one of the first markets to receive the HEV variant.

To anticipate what the Pakistani version may offer, the international 1.5-liter turbo model provides a useful benchmark. It measures 4,380 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in height, with a 2,620 mm wheelbase. The engine produces 156 hp and 230 Nm of torque and is paired with 18-inch wheels.

Key safety features expected on the hybrid include six airbags, ABS, EBD, ESP, a 540-degree camera system, and TPMS. Convenience features from the global model include leather upholstery, powered front seats, a moonroof, powered tailgate, dual-zone climate control, and a 13.2-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Industry sources say Nishat Motors has consistently adopted competitive pricing for its new vehicles, and a similar strategy could be applied to the J5. However, the final price will ultimately shape its success in Pakistan’s expanding hybrid crossover market.
