University teachers across Pakistan have urged the government to increase funding for the Higher Education Commission (HEC), stressing that greater financial support is essential for maintaining the quality and sustainability of the country’s higher education sector.

Academic representatives have expressed concerns that limited funding is affecting universities’ ability to support research, upgrade infrastructure, provide scholarships, and retain qualified faculty members. They argue that insufficient allocations could hinder the growth and global competitiveness of Pakistan’s educational institutions.

Faculty organizations have called on policymakers to prioritize higher education in future budget planning, emphasizing that investment in universities is critical for producing skilled professionals and fostering innovation.
