More than 278,000 Pakistani workers registered for overseas employment opportunities during the first five months of 2026, reflecting continued strong demand for foreign jobs among the country’s labor force.
According to official figures, the large number of registrations highlights Pakistan’s growing reliance on international job markets, particularly in the Gulf region, where construction, services, and technical sectors continue to attract a significant share of workers.
Authorities involved in overseas employment facilitation say that registration numbers have remained steady due to improved recruitment channels, government-backed overseas employment programs, and rising interest from skilled as well as semi-skilled workers seeking better income opportunities abroad.
Experts note that remittances sent by overseas Pakistanis remain one of the country’s most important sources of foreign exchange. The steady flow of workers abroad is expected to further support remittance inflows, which play a key role in stabilizing Pakistan’s economy.

The Overseas Employment Corporation and other recruitment bodies continue to facilitate workers by verifying job offers, ensuring legal migration pathways, and reducing the risks associated with illegal recruitment agents.
Officials also emphasize the importance of skill development programs to improve the employability of Pakistani workers in international markets, especially in sectors such as construction, healthcare, logistics, and information technology.
If the current trend continues, overseas employment registrations are expected to remain strong throughout 2026, reinforcing Pakistan’s position as one of the major labor-exporting countries in the region.
