Dubai Customs has announced plans to incorporate the metaverse into its leadership development program in an effort to boost trade operations and support the emirate’s economic objectives. In order to establish Dubai as a leading player in the metaverse, the Director-General (DG) of Dubai Customs, Ahmad Mahboob Musabih, is leading the initiative.

A metaverse training program has been launched by the organization as a means of digitizing operations and increasing revenue through the usage of technology. The program’s goal is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the technology and its potential to improve operations. This report also emphasizes the importance of using the technology responsibly, as it focuses on the benefits and drawbacks of integrating metaverse into the customs sector. The vision of Dubai Customs is in line with the broader ‘Dubai Metaverse Strategy’ presented by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council.
Customs Leadership Development Program
This program is part of the Dubai Customs’ strategic plan for 2021-26 and offers an array of academic and practical training across three modules, Innovative Customs Management, Digitization of Customs Operations, and Agile Leadership, all of which are part of the program. In collaboration with the University of Dubai, the Human Resources Division’s Customs Leadership Development Center supports the initiative in a number of ways. As part of the sixth batch of graduates from this program, 16 inspectors have graduated from it. Training has been conducted in five batches over the last five years, training 137 employees in total.
