OPPO is a company that is well known for making some very popular smartphones over the years and they have been able to attract a lot of consumers in the smartphone market because of their intuitively designed smartphones with some exceptional features and that too at a rather economical price. The company was one of the very first companies add the pop-up selfie camera alongside its sister company, known as Vivo. Now, the Chinese giants seem to be experimenting with the pop up camera mechanism once more, as was revealed by a recent patent which popped up.
The patent for the design was published by OPPO at the end of last year and was noticed by LetsGoDigital recently. The patent shows us a phone with a full-screen display, one which does not have any notches, simply because the smartphone comes with a unique pop-up camera. The interesting thing about the new front camera is that it is a double-sided pop-up camera which has a reflective mirror.
The patent shows the OPPO smartphone using not one but two reflective mirrors which are shaped quite like a prism. The camera module helps move the reflective mirrors up and down so the cameras stay together. The cameras inside face upward towards the reflective mirrors facing both sides of the phone, letting the cameras capture photos in both directions.
The process itself, allows the camera set up to act as both the main camera and the selfie camera. This should also make the camera exceptional for taking 360˚ panorama shots. The mirror is generally kept perpendicular it can be altered based on the types of photos you want to take.
According to OPPO, this camera can be altered using a side button on the phone. Pressing the button will activate the selfie camera, but pressing it twice will turn it into a rear camera. However, it is just a patent thus far, not a completed product, so one mustn’t get to ahead of themselves so soon, one has to wait for it to go into mass production before conclusive information can be given about the features and capabilities of the smartphone, but as always, we shall keep you updated!
