Zafar also called on the government to establish a sports academy in Nadeem’s name and urged both the government and the nation to give Nadeem a grand reception. He emphasized that with the right support, Pakistani athletes could potentially win up to 10 gold medals in a year.

It is notable that Pakistan has clinched an Olympic medal after a 32-year gap; the last medal was a bronze in hockey at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. The country’s previous gold medal was won in 1984, also in hockey.
