Exciting news has emerged suggesting that Pakistani cricket star Babar Azam is poised to reclaim the captaincy of the Pakistan national team. Sources indicate that the newly elected Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, intends to appoint Babar Azam as the team captain.
Earlier today, Mohsin Naqvi, who was already serving as the caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, was officially named as the Chairman of the PCB without facing any competition in the elections.
He is set to hold the chairman’s position for the next three years, and it’s anticipated that there may be some forthcoming changes in Pakistan cricket.

Furthermore, the election was conducted at the National Cricket Academy, and Mohsin Naqvi now assumes the role as the 37th Chairman of the PCB.
Meanwhile, Babar Azam had stepped down from the captaincy of the Pakistan team across all formats last year following a disappointing performance in the 2023 World Cup. Pakistan ended the tournament in 5th place, failing to progress to the semi-finals.
Subsequent to Babar’s resignation, Shaheen Afridi was appointed as the captain for T20Is, while Shan Masood took over the Test captaincy. However, both had a challenging debut series.
Under their leadership, the Pakistani team recently suffered a 4-1 defeat in a T20I series against New Zealand, and prior to that, they lost a 3-0 Test series against Australia.
