British Airways Continue Operations from Islamabad after some ease in Coronavirus Cases

Today. British Airways have  fulfilled there promise to resume operations in Pakistan on the August 14 after the first flight took off from Islamabad outbound for the city of London today, said the British High Commission in Islamabad.

It should be noted that the British airliner had halted operations for Pakistan after they imposed restrictions to tackle the rise and spread of the coronavirus in their country.

It is also worth mentioning that British Airways’ direct flights resumed in June 2019 after a break of nearly 10 years. The carrier first flew to Pakistan back in 1976 and operations came to a halt in 2009, since then this is the first flight to take place. The surge in cases in recent times resulted in operations being stopped and restrictions were therefore  imposed to fight the pandemic which by all means affected operations of air travel in a negative way, a way by which airliners started losing money.

A while back ago, the High Commission stated that following the global pandemic, passengers have been required to wear masks and will have access to hand sanitisers at airport as well as during flight. British High Commissioner Christian Turner said this was an important moment for UK-Pakistan links.

“The resumption of British Airways direct flights is a big boost for the hundreds of thousands of travellers who travel regularly between our two great nations, many who have had their travel plans disrupted by the pandemic. I’d like to thank the Government of Pakistan, British Airways and my team in Pakistan who have worked hard to deliver this welcome news,” said the British High Commissioner.
