A clinical board comprised to decide the age of Arzoo — a Christian young lady who was supposedly kidnapped prior to being powerfully changed over and married to a Muslim man — informed the Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday that the young lady is between 14 to 15 years old. 

A division seat, headed by Justice K Agha, coordinated that the young lady be reclaimed to a sanctuary home and advised police to continue against her supposed spouse for disregarding the Sindh Child Marriages Restraint Act 2013. 

During the present hearing, Arzoo emphasized she had not been grabbed and had enthusiastically married Syed Ali Azhar in the wake of changing over to Islam. 

The seat saw that as indicated by the report introduced by the clinical board, the young lady is between 14 to 15 years old while the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) record demonstrated she is 13 years of age. 

At the point when the court inquired as to whether she wished to go with her family or to the sanctuary home, she demanded going with Azhar and broke into tears.

In any case, the seat saw that she appeared to be underage and couldn’t get a marriage willingly. The court requested the young lady be reclaimed to the sanctuary home and dismissed the consultation for about fourteen days. 

Rights activist and legal counsellor Jibran Nasir said that the clinical report submitted to the SHC demonstrated that Arzoo is “around 14 years old”. 

“Court perceives Nadra archives expressing Arzoo’s age to be 13 as evident. Proclaims by all appearances she contracted youngster marriage,” said Nasir, who is essential for the legitimate group battling the case in the interest of Arzoo’s family. 

“The court has not arranged off this appeal and the following hearing is following fourteen days. The court is yet to decide if Arzoo is sui juris to change over religion of unrestrained choice given her age of 13. At this stage just inquiry of youngster marriage has been tended to and settled,” he said.
