Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has initiated a major step toward environmental sustainability by banning disposable plastic water bottles in all government offices, starting with the CM House. This move, aimed at reducing plastic waste and promoting eco-friendly practices, took effect immediately following a notification issued on August 16, according to Shah.
To support this effort, Shah directed his secretariat to replace all plastic water bottles with glass jugs during meetings at the CM House. Recent footage from Sunday showcased this change, with glass jugs and tumblers placed on meeting tables, reflecting the government’s commitment to minimizing plastic waste. During a meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of this initiative and urged participants to eliminate plastic bottles and other disposable plastic items from their offices and public spaces.
Shah advocated for the use of sustainable alternatives like glass and biodegradable materials, stressing the need to protect the environment and improve public health. “Plastic waste is clogging our drains, rivers, ponds, and seas, damaging marine life and polluting our environment,” Shah said. “As a nation, we must adopt eco-friendly practices to preserve our natural resources and ensure a cleaner, healthier future.”
In addition to the plastic bottle ban, the Chief Minister committed to further actions aimed at combating environmental degradation, including plans to address air pollution across the province as part of his administration’s broader ecological reforms.
“This is just the beginning,” CM Shah declared. “We are committed to taking significant measures to control air pollution and improve the overall environmental quality.”
