The founder of famous companies such as Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk has just become the world’s wealthiest person in the world as his net worth surpassed $185bn (£136bn) after shares in the electric car company rose up by 4.8% on Thursday. He has taken the top spot away from the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos who had been atop the rankings since 2017.
It is worth noting that the reason why Musk was able to reach at the level was because his electric car company, Tesla has saw a significant rise in its value of shares and hit reached a market valuation of $700bn (£516bn) for the first time on Wednesday. This has in turn resulted in the car company becoming far more wealthier than the likes of Toyota, Volkswagen, Hyundai, GM, and Ford all combined,” as mentioned in a report published by the BBC.
When Musk got word of the amazing news that he is now the worlds wealthiest person, he glamorously tweeted “how strange” and later added “well, back to work …”

It should also be noted that just 2 months ago, Elon Musk stripped the second spot away from Microsoft founder Bill Gates and in turn became the second wealthiest person on earth and after only two months he is now at the very top. “The 49-year-old entrepreneur’s net worth rose by $7.2bn (£5.4bn) to $127.9bn as the maverick chief executive of the electric car company is now ranked immediately behind the Amazon boss, Jeff Bezos,” read the news report published by The Guardian.
In addition to Tesla, the famous entrepreneur has also seen a fair share of success in spacecraft oriented company, SpaceX and just last week he and his company sent 4 astronauts to the International Space Station. It is also worth noting that, SpaceX is in final stages of launching 60 broadband internet satellites into orbit, after suffering delays due to poor weather conditions, as mentioned in the report.
