In the latest news coming from the states we find a rather interesting story to talk about here, two former Oklahoma jail employees and their respective supervisor are facing misdemeanor cruelty charges after relative investigators found they forced inmates to stand handcuffed for hours and listen to the one of the most famous children’s songs in the 21st century, “Baby Shark”. The song was played on repeat and if anything was used as a source of torturing cellmates. According to a report, at the very least four inmates were secured to a wall with their hands cuffed behind them while the song played on a loop at a significantly high volume for hours on end. The separate incidents occurred in November and December, as per the court records regarding the matter at hand.
The misdemeanor charges were filed this Monday against the former Oklahoma County jail employees, namely, Gregory Cornell Butler Jr. and Christian Charles Miles, who are both just 21 years of age while their supervisor, one Christopher Raymond Hendershott, is currently 50 years old. In addition, the Oklahoma County District Attorney said this in regards with the matter, “It was unfortunate that I myself was unable to find a felony statute to fit this fact scenario, I would have preferred filing a felony on this behavior.”

Court records do not list any attorney for each of them. Moreover, Sheriff P.D. Taylor said on Monday that Butler and Miles resigned during an internal investigation and that Hendershott has formally retired from his service.
Taylor says that “We don’t tolerate it, we always did an excellent job policing ourselves.” The “Baby Shark” song gained huge popularity two years ago after the company Pinkfong released the first video of the song online. The video has since been viewed more than 6.5 billion times and is popular across the globe. Using such a song as means of torture came as a surprise to all of us. What are your thoughts?
