Remember the time when we had just installed Facebook on our phones and how happy we were at the sight of being able to use social media and chat with our friends within one app and how that freedom was taken away from us when Facebook decided that it was going to force its users to download a separate app by the name of messenger for chatting purposes. That seemed like a big mistake as people got pissed off at Facebook for doing at and started transferring to other social medias and chatting apps. This forced Facebook to buy WhatsApp which was now the primary source of chat. However, it might not be too late to undo the mistake that Facebook committed in the first place.

Renowned application researcher, Jane Manchun Wong, has shared screenshots explaining the chat feature of Messenger within the main Facebook app. The new discovery reveals that Messenger, or at least its chat feature, might finally return to the original Facebook app soon.

The feature is currently under testing and will integrate the Messenger chat in the main Facebook app.

The screen shots posted on Twitter by the famed researcher show a small Messenger icon built into the main Facebook app. Tapping on the Messenger icon opens the ‘Chats’ section with the list of all contacts in the same manner as they appear in the Messenger app. From the screenshots, it appears that users will be able to have a regular chat with any of their acquaintances in the main Facebook app.

A Facebook spokesperson told The Verge;

“We are testing ways to improve the messaging experience for people within the Facebook app. Messenger remains a feature-rich, stand-alone messaging app with over a billion people using it monthly to connect with the people and businesses they care about most. We do not have any additional details to share at this time.”

It surely will be a welcome update for Facebook users because integration is key and might just encourage some of the Facebook loyals to get back to messenger.
