Firefox will not be available for Windows XP and Vista after June 2018

ATech savvy knows very well that Windows XP was one of the most used operating systems ever. Later on, Windows Vista was its successor but it could not do well in the market and Windows 7 had to come to rescue the Windows OS.

Windows XP and Vista are not getting any mainstream support by Mozilla Firefox form the back in March as they stopped it. This ultimately shows that Firefox has stopped receiving any versions upgrades in March.

Now, it only gets the security updates and bug fixes and in upcoming times it will not see a new feature again. But now Mozilla has announced officially that it is totally ending the support for Firefox in June 2018.

Firefox will not even receive security updates after June 2018. So it is the right time to upgrade to Windows 10 for all users.

“As one of the few browsers that continue to support Windows XP and Vista, Firefox users on these platforms can expect security updates until that date. Users do not need to take additional action to receive those updates,” Mozilla says.

Firefox initially planned to bring to a close for the updates in September 2017, but the corporation has been very generous in this regard and extended the support and its user of Windows XP and Vista can use it until June next year. So you should not look forward it to extend the support even more and shift to a newer version of Windows.

Windows Vista will not get new security update or non-security hotfixes either from June 2018. The users that are still on this OS (operating system) will have to move to a newer and latest version of the operating system if they want to stay secure.

Windows XP is still considered as one of the finest versions of Microsoft’s and is used by almost 13.7% of all computer users. It was released about 15 years ago.

“Microsoft has provided support for Windows Vista for the past 10 years, but the time has come for us, along with our hardware and software partners, to invest our resources towards more recent technologies so that we can continue to deliver great new experiences,” said Microsoft in a blog post.
