The fuss of making foldable phones is around from the last couple of years and a number of manufacturers including Samsung, Huawei, LG, and Lenovo are in a race get this target. Since, every manufacture is trying to get the label of “Pioneer” in this field.

In this regard, we’ve seen many drawings, patent diagrams, and lots of concepts other than no actual footage of a working foldable phone. But recently, a new video has come online which actually showed the real results that how Lenovo is working on its prototype which can be folded like a pocket-sized wallet.

As you can see in the video that Smartphone works absolutely fine, it can run different apps. Even when they try to fold it and the phone folded in half display; it perfectly shows the content in functional form.

Apart from the fact that it has huge bezels and somewhat unattractive design, its foldable characteristic is still interesting and exciting.

Moreover, it is the very first visual representation of what we can expect from future devices. Are you ready to see more about foldable phones in future?

What is the Next Big Thing?

Well, there’s a parallel pivot we got to see in Huawei’s patent. We can imagine future devices to be much bigger than the prototype above as the plan of Huawei is to switch back between a tablet sized display and a Smartphone. So, I think it will be real big than a Smartphone.

A black mark on the right edge of Lenovo’s prototype was spotted. Strangely, it stays even when the phone is unfolded so it is likely to be a fault with the prototype, and not a problem with the concept.

Although, the final version of the product for end users will look much different and will go through lots of quality checks before making it to the markets.

Here, the video just shows that today’s technology is capable to make a foldable display without cracking it, and without turning its touch panel off. Isn’t interesting?

On the other hand, Samsung and Huawei have also publicly announced to launch their foldable phones soon. In addition, LG also filed for its own patents however has not made any announcements yet.

Let’s see which manufacturer is going to win this race? What’s your opinion about it, who’s going to “first one” to make the final product of foldable phone for users?
