There is no doubt that Facebook knows about everything about you.

When I say everything, it latterly means everything.  From your friendships, to relationships, work, hobbies, interests and political persuasions and even every contact number in your cellophane with log details.

  1. Disable data sharing option on Facebook to restrict third-party apps

You can apply these settings, in this way you will not be able to use your Facebook account to login into third-party apps like Foodpanda, Instagram, etc. In the same way, these apps won’t have access to user data accessible on Facebook.

To configure this setting follow these steps

  • Go to Settings > Apps
  • Click the Edit button under Apps, Websites & Plugins
  • Click Disable Platform
  1. Remove the apps you don’t trust from Facebook

This is another way to protect your data from third-party apps.

  • Go to Settings > Apps
  • Check the applications under the tab” logged in with Facebook ” and then check the apps you do not want to keep

  1. Supervise app permissions of the Facebook mobile app

Whenever we install Facebook, Facebook Lite or Messenger, it asks our permission to access contacts, camera, microphone and your messages. You can cancel these permissions by following these steps:

  • Go to Apps Manager > Apps > Facebook
  • Tap on Permissions
  • Uncheck SMS, Telephone, Contacts, and Microphone and then save

Before installing the app, Messenger also asks for the permission to read your text messages and text anybody on your phone. Here, you can turn off this option upon installation.

On the other hand, if you have already given these permissions while downloading the app then you will need to uninstall and reinstall the app to avail the chance.

You should be aware with the fact that Facebook tracks your web activity on other websites and also tracks your interests on the social network in order to mark and target the ads. On the other hand, you can switch off your personal data to be visible for ads.
