The Director General of Immigration and Passports has issued a formal notice revealing revised delivery times for passport services. As per the announcement, normal, urgent, and fast-track passport services’ delivery times have been curtailed to 10 days, 4 days, and 2 days, correspondingly.
New Passport Delivery Schedule: Faster Processing Times
In comparison, the prior delivery times for normal, urgent, and fast-track passport services were 21 days, 7 days, and 4 days, respectively. The reduction in delivery times is projected to render substantial relief to passport applicants who previously encountered exasperating delays in receiving their passports.
It is believed that the decision to reduce the delivery times has been taken in light of the mounting number of passport applications. The Department of Immigration and Passports has been swamped with passport applications, and the new delivery schedule aims to improve the efficiency of the passport delivery system and reduce the backlog of applications waiting to be processed.
The new delivery schedule is also intended to benefit people requiring passports urgently, such as those traveling for work or medical reasons. The Director General of Immigration and Passports has recommended that applicants comply with the stipulated procedures and furnish all necessary documents to ensure a seamless and trouble-free application process.
