In accordance with what latest report has to say, the global smartphone shipments are likely to witness a double-digit growth in the next year, after seeing three consecutive years of decline.
The report also goes on to add that shipments could actually grow by 150 million units in the upcoming year – mainly down to the acceleration in 5G operations in several regions across the globe including the likes of the US, Western Europe and Japan.
It has also been estimated that entry-level 5G smartphones as well as 4G smartphones will drive the demand in the emerging markets. Moreover, the report further adds by claiming that these devices are expected to reach more than 1.5 billion units in 2023 and 1.7 billion units in 2025.

Furthermore, it has been said that Samsung and Apple will cement top spots when it comes to shipments in the year 2021. Both these companies will be followed by Chinese brands such as OPPO, Vivo and Xiaomi. As per what the estimate suggests, Huawei will slip to the seventh position, even though the company maintains the top position in its home country of China.
There is also the expectation that global smartphone shipments of 5G devices will reach to a number exceeding 200 million units next year, and the number of units are expected to expand to more than 1.22 billion units in the year 2025.
Recently, it was predicted by Canalys that in 2020, global 5G smartphone shipments will actually reach 278 million units. It has also been added that in 2020, smartphone shipments will actually drop by 10.7 percent when in comparison to 2019 – and is expected to rebound next year – with a year on year growth of 9.9 percent being the result of such figures.
