US giants, Google has announced a new Chromecast which will be powered by the Google TV, which will also be launching alongside the Chromecast. Chromecast is a new device designed by Google which plugs into any TV and turns it into a smart TV and allows users to stream media from their phones to their TVs or from applications such as YouTube or Netflix.

Google launch new Chromecast and Google TV

The new version of the Chromecast has a design which is pretty similar to its predecessors and the only difference we were able to spot was the latest version is a bit more elongated. The new Chromecast is able to display 4K video at 60Hz and includes support for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and HDR10. In terms of the audio capabilities of the new device, it is capable of processing Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus with Dolby Atmos pass-through.

It also has a dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth through which it is able to connect the device with its dedicated remote. The remote of the Chromecast has a sleek design. There is a navigation pad at the top, volume buttons on the side, and shortcut buttons for Google Assistant, Youtube, and Netflix, giving users an easy navigation. It can be used in video games as well thanks to its built-in accelerometer. Besides, it features IR for TV, soundbars, and receivers.

Conversely, on the other side we also find that Google are launching their z Google TV alongside the Chromecast. The Google TV has been co-developed with Sony, Qualcomm, and Logitech. If you remember, the Google TV was initially launched back in 2010 but in 2014, Google TV was succeeded by Android TV, a newer platform which has closer ties with the Android platform. The new Google TV still runs on top of the existing Android TV. It is available with Chromecast for the time being, however, Google has revealed to add Google TV to more devices in their vast Android system.

Google TV’s UI is similar to that which you would on Apple TV or Amazon Fire. On the top of the UI, you will find a category tab and there are two more tabs, which you will find on the bottom; one of which recommends top picks for users and the other one helps users to navigate between their applications such as YouTube TV and Netflix. The new device also supports Google Photos albums and Nest cameras and doorbells and as per the latest news, Google TV will be available on television models from Sony and other Android TV OS partners from next year.
