Google is in problems once again. To resolve a lawsuit that dates back to the year 2020 Google is required to give Arizona the sum of $85 million. According to the suit, Google was illegally tracking Android phones in order to display more relevant advertisements.

According to the latest reports that attorney general Mark Brnovich filed a lawsuit against Google in May 2020. He claimed that Google was in violation of lawful state regulations such as the Consumer Fraud Act by collecting location information from Android users even though they had shut off their setting for location.

Google employees were uncertain of the privacy safeguards it had in place. They agreed that the company could benefit from some tweaking to ensure that it can take into account the requests of consumers to not monitor their information.

Google requested the Arizona court to dismiss its case back in January. Google claimed that state law requires that fraud must be tied to an advertisement or sale.

The judge did not grant Google’s demand. The company now has to pay Google has to make $85m, which is the highest amount per user in the course of a huge lawsuit.

Google spokesperson Jose Castaneda said in the official statement of the company “We provide straightforward controls and auto-delete options for location data, and are always working to minimise the data we collect.” “We’re glad that this problem has been solved, and we’ll keep focusing on making useful products for our users Android phones.”

Google was being sued for more than the one thing. Google is being accused of being sued by attorneys general from Indiana, Texas, and Washington, DC, over similar allegations regarding how Google tracks the data of its users.
