The federal government has announced a hike in the prices of petroleum products. As per a notification from the finance ministry, the price of petrol will rise by Rs. 4.53 per liter to reach Rs. 293.94, while high-speed diesel will see an increase of Rs. 8.14 per liter, reaching Rs. 290.38.

It’s worth noting that in the last fortnightly review of petroleum prices on March 31, the government raised petrol prices by Rs. 9.66 per liter. Conversely, the price of high-speed diesel was reduced by Rs. 3.32 per liter.

Presently, the government is imposing a petroleum levy of Rs. 60 per liter, which is the maximum permissible limit under the law, on both petrol and high-speed diesel.
