Counterpoint research has recently indicated with a research report based on the latest smartphone industry results that Huawei growth in the European market in particular for the first quarter of 2019 has been beyond expectations.

In the whole of Europe, Huawei has seen its market share increase by a whooping 11 percent from Q1 2018 to Q1 2019. Specifically, in the Eastern European market, Huawei has seen its market share increase by a massive 18 percent during the same period.

For the sake of argument, as far as the other big players in the European market are concerned, Samsung has managed to increase its share by just a single percent, while both Apple and Xiaomi have lost market share. As a whole, the European market decreased by three percent over the course of the year.

Such results go on to clarify one thing in particular : Huawei has seen growth in the European market at a very fast pace, this comes regardless of both the competition or even the whole market in general.

But then the question arises, with the recent events concerning Huawei as the United States has banned business with Huawei, will such growth last – and if so, for how long? The results that have followed from counterpoint have been revealed just recently and all the data that has followed comes before the Huawei ban actually took effect.

With both Qualcomm and Arm pulling out business with Huawei, as well as Google pulling out the support for Android and Google services, Huawei is now placed in a very difficult situation to compete with both Samsung and Apple, as well as the other major smartphone companies that have been providing competition to the Chinese manufacturer over the past few years. Huawei faces an uphill battle to stay afloat, and even if the company manages to get the US to retract the ban, the damage to the company’s reputation has already been done. Will the company make a comeback with perhaps its own OS, or find some other way to get back to the top – we’ll just have to wait and see.
