Huawei partners with Flex to assemble parts for smartphones in India. Huawei the Chinese phone maker has partnered with Flex and with this partnership the company aims at assembling printed circuit boards for its smartphones at a plant near Chennai.

Huawei being the handset and telecom-equipment maker aims at beating high import duties and a volatile rupee, to get a slice of the India’s booming smartphone market by putting together components in the country.

 According to report in Economic Times, the group will began with its printed circuit board, or PCB, assembling by setting up its SMT (Surface-Mount Technology) line in partnership with Flex ( its manufacturing partner ),  in Sriperumbudur near Chennai.

Huawei’s aim is to make the unit fully functional in two months and after that the company’s smartphones in India will be fitted with circuit boards assembled in this plant.

Huawei is quite hopeful to be able to save on Printed Circuit Board Assembly import duty and also rupee fluctuation, which is down 6 percent  against the US dollar so far the current year.

Huawei managed to enter the Indian smartphone market with its sub-brand – Honor. The Huawei sub brand Honor provides affordable and mid-range devices.

In the 1st quarter of the current year, the company Huawei could achieve a market share of 3.4 per cent, up from 1.4 per cent in the same quarter during the year 2017.

The company is aimed at garnering a 10 per cent market share by the upcoming year.

Honor devices come in the segment that garners the most volumes in India, but it is also the most crowded and much more competitive as well.

How will be the costs of smartphones affected in India with Huawei’s debut to assemble parts for smartphones in the country? Still no exact words but we expect lowered costs of devices and better marketing of Huawei devices in India.
