Alert: Fake Delivery Package Scams Persistently Prevalent

In November of last year, we delved into a notorious SMS scam that has been plaguing users across the country. This scam, which involves fraudulent text messages, continues to proliferate, with numerous reports surfacing online.

The modus operandi of this scam remains largely unchanged. Recipients receive a deceptive SMS purporting to be from Pakistan Post, claiming that a delivery package will not be delivered unless the recipient updates their street address. The message typically includes a link, which, when clicked, leads to malicious websites.

It’s crucial to reiterate that Pakistan Post does not request address updates or payments via SMS, especially not through suspicious links. In the event of any issues with a delivery, legitimate platforms typically contact customers through official channels rather than random phone numbers.

Users are strongly cautioned against clicking on links from unfamiliar numbers or sharing personal information in response to such messages. It’s also advisable to educate friends and family about these scams to help safeguard them against falling victim.

Moreover, installing apps like Google Messages, which can identify and report scam messages, is recommended as an additional layer of protection against such fraudulent activities.
