Motorola Edge 50 Ultra: A Premium Phone with a Unique Twist In the premium smartphone segment, glass panels have been the norm, with vegan leather gaining popularity in recent launches. However, Motorola is set to offer a refreshing new option with the Edge 50 Ultra: a wood back variant. The device is expected to come in three color options, including Forest Grey and Peach Fuzz for the vegan leather variant, and Nordic Wood, featuring actual wood. All variants feature a sandblasted aluminum frame for a sleek look and feel.
Impressive Display The Edge 50 Ultra boasts a tall 6.7-inch LTPS pOLED display with a resolution of 2,712 x 1,220 pixels and a fast 144Hz refresh rate. With a 20:9 aspect ratio, HDR10+ support, and a remarkable 93.8% screen-to-body ratio, this display offers an immersive viewing experience. It covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and reaches a peak brightness of 2,500 nits. Additionally, the display is Pantone validated and features an in-display fingerprint scanner for added security. To ensure durability, Motorola has equipped the device with a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus panel with an anti-fingerprint coating.

Powerful Performance Under the hood, the Edge 50 Ultra packs a punch with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, coupled with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. This high-end chipset delivers impressive performance, supported by a 4,500mAh battery that supports 125W wired fast charging, 50W wireless fast charging, and 10W wireless reverse charging. The device also features a dual stereo speaker setup tuned by Dolby Atmos, Snapdragon Sound support for lossless audio, and X-axis motors for haptic feedback. Connectivity options include dual SIM support, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 7, and NFC. Running on the Android 14 OS out of the box, the Edge 50 Ultra also boasts an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
Versatile Camera System In the photography department, the Edge 50 Ultra shines with its versatile triple camera setup. It features a 50-megapixel primary sensor with laser autofocus and OIS, accompanied by a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto shooter with OIS and 3x optical zoom. Additionally, there’s a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 50-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls. The camera system is Pantone certified, ensuring accurate color reproduction, including skin tones. Users can explore various shooting modes, including portrait, macro, timelapse, panorama, pro mode, and super high-resolution mode.
Launch Date & Pricing Motorola is all set to unveil the Edge 50 Ultra in India on June 18, 2024, at 12 PM local time. While pricing details are yet to be revealed, the flagship device is expected to start at 999 Euros globally, suggesting a price range of around or above 70,000 INR in India.
