The federal government has appointed Muhammad Sheheryar Sultan, a Grade-21 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service, as the new Chairman of the National Highway Authority (NHA). His appointment is pending ratification by the National Highway Council in accordance with section 9 of the National Highway Authority Act 1991, as amended in 2001.

In separate notifications issued by the Establishment Division, Arshad Majeed Mohmand has been removed from his position as Chairman of the NHA and directed to report to the Establishment Division. Sultan, previously serving in the Finance Ministry, has been transferred to head the road authority.
