Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar took over as Deputy Prime Minister on Sunday, according to an official announcement from the Cabinet Division.

The announcement, delivered through an official notification, stated that “the Prime Minister has designated Mr. Mohammad Ishaq Dar, the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, as Deputy Prime Minister effective immediately and until further notice.”

Ishaq Dar has extensive expertise to this new post, having previously held various critical positions. Notably, he served as Finance Minister during the duration of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) administration. His tenure was distinguished by considerable economic reforms and measures aimed at stabilizing.

It’s interesting to note that a well-known member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has previously served as deputy prime minister. Prior to this, PTI President Parvez Elahi served as the PPP-led government’s deputy prime minister.
