Kasim Khan, the son of Imran Khan, founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has taken a prominent role in supporting his father’s bid to become the chancellor of Oxford University.

Kasim’s involvement comes at a time when Oxford University is facing significant backlash against Imran Khan’s candidacy. According to the British newspaper Daily Mail, the university has been inundated with emails and petitions from those opposing Khan’s nomination, citing concerns that he is not a suitable candidate for the role.

In a recent Instagram story that attracted considerable attention on social media, Kasim Khan voiced his strong support for his father’s candidacy. He wrote, “Abba for chancellor – make it happen!” and included a link to an article from the British news magazine The Week, which provides details about Imran Khan’s nomination for the chancellorship.

Oxford University is expected to announce the official list of candidates for the chancellor position in October, with the election set for October 28. Around 250,000 former students and staff members will have the opportunity to participate in the online voting process, with the newly elected chancellor serving a ten-year term.

It is noteworthy that Imran Khan, who is currently imprisoned in Adiala Jail, has officially submitted an application to run for the chancellor position at Oxford University. PTI leader Zulfi Bukhari confirmed Khan’s candidacy in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
