In a recent leak, Ice Universe has unveiled that the cheap variant of the S10 might feature a fingerprint scanner on the side of the phone.
Samsung is likely to release 3 variants of the S10 next year, which have been codenamed “Beyond 0”, “Beyond 1” and “Beyond 2” internally within company. The cheap variant of the S10 (Beyond 0) is expected to follow the design of the Galaxy S7. It will not include infinity display and a flat display with solid bezels surrounding it. However, it isn’t all cheap variant though, as it might be the first phone to have a fingerprint sensor on the side of the phone.
On the other hand, Ice Universe has not given any detail about a side fingerprint sensor. Well, this could mean that the power button on the side of the phone could double as a fingerprint sensor.
If it happens, it’ll be really helpful and convenient, considering the vast majority of users hold their phones in their hands. Hence, it would be amazing idea to have power button (or a separate sensor anywhere around the power button).
Moreover, the screen’s size will be crucial in the device’s success as a large screen paired with the fingerprint scanner placed near the upper sides of the phone would actually reduce convenience than to enhance it. Most of the S8 Plus’ users regularly complained about fingerprint scanner being placed too up on the back of the phone.
According to the tweet of Ice berg, other two variants, expected to be named S10 (Beyond 1) and S10 Plus (Beyond 2) will feature in-display fingerprint scanners.
We all know that, in-display fingerprint scanners have been in demand for the last few months. Although, several brands like Vivo have already adopted the technology, it will be first time for the Korean giant’s to feature this technology. However, it’s unclear for now, will Samsung’s in-display scanner mark and set the standard for future scanners or will it follow the likes of Vivo?
Furthermore, it has been rumored that the cheap variant along with the S10 will have a dual-lens camera set up while the larger one, 6.2-inch S10 Plus will feature a triple-lens camera setup. However, according to industry experts, the opening of a triple-lens camera setup might be to match Huawei’s P20 Pro.
What’s your opinion, will the S10 Plus’ camera be better than the P20 Pro or will Samsung fall behind?
