The all new iPhone launch event is just around the corner and Apple’s long-awaited highlight of the year is due for October 13, set to be held at Apple Park in Cupertino at an event which shall give us the first look in to the up and coming iPhone 12 series. Just a couple days before the inevitable launch however, we now have on our hands a detailed leak which basically tells us almost everything about the upcoming lineup. Renowned Chinese tipster Kang shared on his Weibo handle a very comprehensive post in which he talked about the iPhone 12’s specifications in detail. This was also approved by another well known tipster Ice Universe and also goes along with rumors that we heard about before.
According to the famous leaker, the smallest and cheapest iPhone in the series, the iPhone 12 Mini, is expected to hit markets at price of $699 for the 64GB model and will pack a 5.4-inch display size. The iPhone 12 and 12 Pro will come packed with 6.1-inch displays each, whereas the most premium phone of the lineup, the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s display will be a huge 6.7-inches, which will make it the biggest iPhone to launch, till date.
In addition, all of the specified iphones will come with compact “Super Retina XDR” displays, which will be possible thanks to the new Gorilla Glass Victus, but its key to note that this wasn’t mentioned in the leak. All phones will carry support for 5G, however, only the American units will support the faster mmWave standard. A smart data mode will automatically switch between 4G and 5G depending on the network bandwidths and battery life, saving not only money, but also battery life.
In terms of the camera setups, the iPhone 12 and 12 Mini will come with a dual-camera setup at the back, with a 12MP primary lens and a 12MP ultrawide camera. The Pro phone in the lineup will have an additional telephoto lens as well as a LiDAR sensor. The iPhone 12 Pro will offer the user up to 4x optical zoom, while the Pro Max will bring that even further up to 5x zoom. The Max model will also have a 47% larger sensor.
Wireless charging has been dubbed as Magsafe and the power rating for that will be 15W. All new iPhones will charge with a proprietary charger that will attach magnetically on the back. The iPhone 12 and 12 Mini will start at $799 and $699 respectively for the 64GB memory variant, but they will get other 128GB and 256GB variants as well. The Pro and Pro Max siblings will start at 128GB options for $999 and $1099 respectively, but these two will have variants up till 512GB, so no need to worry.
