While the Royole Felxpai was indeed the very first foldable smartphone, the recent discussion in that category has surrounded both Samsung and Huawei’s take on foldable phones. While Samsung has already launched the Galaxy Fold, Huawei made its move in its home country of China as the Mate X was officially launched in the country last month.

However, the sales of the device have been very limited, with the latest rumors suggesting that Huawei is actually planning to postpone the limited sale of the foldable device. No reasons were given behind the decision, neither has the Chinese manufacturer officially issued a statement. The prospect of a delay in the launch isn’t too surprising either as it won’t be the first time that Huawei takes such a decision. Of course Huawei may be looking at things with a very cautious state of mind as the Samsung Galaxy Fold has suffered quite a lot of criticism when reviewers first got their hands on the device.

The Mate X 5G phone was first subject to being released at the Mobile World Congress earlier in the year however, Huawei faced some problems that meant that it could not launch the device as previously planned. Another reason behind this might have been that since this was going to be Huawei’s first ever foldable device, the company would be taking a significant amount of care with how proceedings were to be carried out – in that everything would happen smoothly.

Coming back to the present, while the rumors are strong that Huawei indeed is looking to postpone the launch date for the Mate X, since this is only speculation and nothing is confirmed – take it all with a pinch of salt until official news makes its way into the frame.
