Microsoft have unveiled a foldable Microsoft Surface Duo

This year’s Microsoft surface event came packed with a new world of surprises. The event marked the introduction of some devices which no one would have expected and well Microsoft have picked up their game a notch to cope up with the modern day standards and designs. The most unexpected device which was announced on the American company’s event was probably the sleek and stylish, Microsoft Surface Duo, which was in the works by the company for some time now.The surprising bit about the device was the part that this device is in fact a smartphone device which comes with a dual-screen folding mechanism, with this trend only a few months old, its surprising that Microsoft have decided to go with this option. A bold decision, but a bold decision is what is required to stay up to date with modern technology standards.

The design will be featuring a surface Neo-like design, with elements of that device in a smaller more compatible size, the device will reportedly run the Android OS and the device will come loaded with two 5.6-inch displays which have in them massive bezels which all the device to be fully unfolded into a miniature 8.3-inch tablet since the display hinges will allow 360 degrees rotation. Both displays will have the capability to run different applications at the same time.

However, quite unlike the in fashion foldable smartphones, this phone will feature two separate displays with an unwanted gap in between. Based on the promo showcased at the event, users will be able to stretch a single application across the two displays but due to the gap, it will look disjointed, which is umm meh/!!!The second display is meant to be used for typing and gaming controls, so it is a work device so yeah, for office use it’s a pretty dope phone/laptop/tablet.

The phone features a concept similar to what we saw in ROG phone’s Twin Dock and the LG Dual Screen case. According to the folks at Microsoft, the phone will not be made ready until the holiday season next year, which will supposedly give developers the time to develop applications which will be compatible with the design of the device. However, by the time Microsoft has its Surface Duo on sale, the world will have moved on to the second-generation of foldable smartphones. Can Microsoft keep up enough to invest in the Duo with the market moving on so fast?
