During the first four months (July – October) of the current fiscal year 2022-23, Pakistan imported mobile phones worth $226.051 million, indicating a decline of 64.94 percent compared to the imports of $644.672 million during the same period last year.
Compared to September 2022, mobile phone imports have grown by 12.62 percent month-on-month (MoM) and stood at $65.780 million. In October 2022, mobile phone imports stood at $65.780 million, compared to $58.407 million in September 2022, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
Mobile imports fell 65% in the first 4 months of FY23
There was a negative growth of 56.06 percent in the import of mobile phones in October 2022 compared to $149.712 million in the previous year for the same month, showing a negative year-on-year growth of 56.06 percent.
During the first four months of the fiscal year 2022-23, the overall value of telecom imports into the country amounted to $345.677 million, which marked a negative growth of 59.17 percent compared to the $846.573 million imports recorded during the same period last year.

The overall telecom imports, however, the YoY change for October 2021-22 was negative, as a growth rate of 53.62 percent was recorded, with $96.805 million being recorded compared to $208,699 million for October 2021-22. In October 2022, the overall telecom imports grew by 22.78 percent on an MoM basis, the highest growth rate since September 2022, when the total imported telecom items were $78.846 million.
Imports of mobile devices fell 65% in FY23
The other apparatus imports for July-October 2022 stood at $119.626 million, a decrease of 40.75 percent from $201.901 million during the same period last year and a reduction of 40.75 percent from $201.950 million in July-October 2021.

A comparison of other apparatus on a year-over-year basis in October 2022 showed a decline of 47.40 percent as compared to $58.987 million in October 2021. In comparison, on a month-over-month basis, other apparatus showed a growth of 51.79 percent as compared to $20.439 million in September 2022.
