Senate body has recommended tax exemption for mobile phone users with balance of only Rs. 500 or less in their account.

From now on Mobile phone users may get exemption from telecom taxes.

Mobile Phone users are comprising a life of restlessness caused by a never-ending punishment of paying hefty taxes to the government.

But the things are likely to be changed in the future. As a recommendation of granting tax exemption has been made through a Senate Standing Committee.

The Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology recommended the grant of tax exemption for mobile phone users with just Rs. 500 or low balance in their account.

Express Tribune has reported that the Senate Standing Committee has directed the Federal Board of Revenue to submit all the details regarding the revenue that was previously collected from the consumers through telecom taxes.

As it has been previously reported that the government of Pakistan is taking away billions from the unsuspecting mobile phone users in the name of telecom taxes and every mobile phone user has to pay these taxes.

Though the Telecom companies have been pleading with the authorities to let them enjoy a much-needed tax relief but these pleadings did not bring fruit.

The telecom sector of Pakistan has added Rs 582.95 billion as tax revenue in the last three and a half years and even though the govt has reduced the WHT from 14 per cent to 12.5 per cent and FED from 18.5 per cent  to 17 per cent, the users still are paying a large amount to the government of Pskistan.

There are several cases in the country that expose the truth that the revenue is being generated from those  people who do not fall into the taxable bracket. Similarly in case  this new recommendation is accepted, there will be peace of mind available for a huge range of mobile phone users who are not well enough to pay the taxes they are paying to avail the telecom services.

Just imagine the time the recommendation is accepted, how much would you get loaded in your mobile account?

This is worth saying that people will not get their phones credited more than 500 to avoid payment of tax and the telecom companies would not be well pleased with this recommendation but to bring the restless public out of their mental restlessness this recommendation is good enough to accept.
