Saudi Arabia has recently introduced a new temporary work visa system, allowing businesses to issue temporary work visas for up to three months, with the option to extend the visas for an additional three months.To apply for a temporary work visa online, the applicant must follow these steps:
Log in to the enterprise’s account on Qiwa platform.
- Select the temporary work visa service from e-services.
- Then, complete all the required fields and submit the request.
It is important to note that only the employer or a commissioner on Qiwa business can submit the request.
Upon submitting a request for a work visa online through the Qiwa platform, the website states that when the visa request is submitted, it will be issued instantly without the need for any additional documentation.
There are, however, certain activities that are exempt from registration as long as the firm is active and possesses a valid commercial registration.
It is essential for the company to have a Nitaqat level of at least medium green. According to Nitaqat, companies are classified based on the amount of Saudiization that they have undergone.

As far as multiple entities under the same unified number are concerned, there should be no expired work permits in the national unified number of the enterprise, and there should be sufficient credit in the National unified number of the enterprise on Absher. ABSHER is an online platform that allows residents and businesses in Saudi Arabia to access a wide array of e-services. A visa request can be declined for two reasons. An insufficient balance will occur in the Absher account of an enterprise if there is an insufficient balance in its unified number. In the second instance, if it is the Ministry of the Interior that has rejected the application.
It is important to note here that the issued visas can be canceled, and the government fees can be refunded to the company in case the visas are canceled. There are certain terms and conditions that must be met in order for the refund to be processed.
