HMD global has recently announced that it has extended its partnership with Pixelworks. Pixelworks has had, and will have a huge hand in the company’s deliverance of visual display processing and advanced video delivery, all for Nokia’s upcoming smartphones.

HMD global first partnered with Pixelworks for the sake of the Nokia 7.1, a phone which goes on to sport a quite impressive PureDisplay panel – which goes on to enhance the already good viewing experience on the smartphone. It is also the very first phone to feature with the Pixelworks’ Iris processor, coming with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC, and going on to deliver extremely impressive visual on an LCD panel.

The display panel for the Nokia 7.1 – PureDisplay – which goes on to embed the technology of Pixelworks is actually what make the smartphone stand out from the rest of the many mid-range smartphones that we have available at our disposal. The phone goes on to offer superior HDR tone mapping, along with advanced viewing experience for HDR10 videos and pictures. The phone also goes on to enable both local contrast, and goes on to enhance the element of sharpness.

And now, such technology won’t just be limited to the Nokia 7.1, as it will go on to be extended over to other Nokia-branded phones as well. Indeed has Nokia confirmed that the future Nokia smartphones will come with the technology powered by Pixelworks.

HMD global is indeed hosting a launch event on the 24th of February during the Mobile World Congress 2019 at Barcelona, Spain, so it’ll without doubt be interesting to see exactly what the company has in store for us in that period of time. It is an exciting prospect, and we’ll have to wait just a little bit longer to see exactly what the company has in store for us!
