Last year saw the launch of the OPPO Find X flagship phone. The device caught the attention of many as it came with a motorized camera assembly which included both the front as well as the rear cameras. The device was one of the first to adopt the slider design. In recent news though, there have been talks over the phone’s successor – the OPPO Find X2. OPPO fans have been eagerly waiting to see what the company has in store with the launch of the second generation device, however, the VP of OPPO has delivered some bad news for all those who were excited for the launch of the device. Today’s Weibo post from OPPO VP Brian Shen dashed all the hopes confirming that the device won’t be launching this year.

The rumors which were surrounding the phone earlier in the year had stated that it would make its debut by mid-2019. It was rumored that the smartphone would include features like 10x optical zoom, as well as an In-display fingerprint scanner with the support for two-finger unlocking. There was also speculation that the device would feature with a punch-hole display, Super VOOC charging technology and wireless charging. Sadly enough though, the Find X2 will not be releasing before 2020.

In his own words, Brian explained that OPPO is actually reviewing the improvement points of the Find X smartphone and aims to launch a more capable and better flagship smartphone in the coming year. In another Weibo post, the VP also confirmed that OPPO is indeed looking to launch its other smartphone series in the second half of 2019.

The first half of 2019 saw OPPO shifting its prime focus on to its Reno and Reno 10x Zoom smartphones. After the announcement made related to the Reno series back in April, Brian actually confirmed that the company had scrapped its R-series. Considering the fact that OPPO will focus on Reno and Find series, it won’t go on to launch the newer R-series smartphones.
