The Israeli military recently carried out a devastating airstrike in the Daraj area of northern Gaza, targeting a school within a refugee camp where around 250 Palestinians were performing Fajr prayers. The attack resulted in the deaths of 100 individuals, including many women and children, and left dozens more injured.

Reports indicate that the Israeli military dropped three missiles, each weighing 2,000 pounds, on the school, which had been providing shelter to displaced Palestinians. Israel has claimed that the school was being used as a Hamas headquarters and that terrorists were present at the site. However, Gaza officials have accused Israel of deliberately targeting civilians, and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad has labeled the attack a war crime.

In response to the escalating violence, Qatar, Egypt, and the United States have proposed a new ceasefire plan, urging both Israel and Hamas to commence negotiations on August 15. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed a willingness to discuss the proposal, with talks potentially taking place in Doha or Cairo.

Since October of the previous year, Israeli military actions in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of 39,700 Palestinians and injuries to over 91,700, according to reports. The international community, led by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States, is applying pressure on both sides to reach a ceasefire agreement and bring an end to the ongoing conflict.
