Public Assembly’s Standing Committee on Law and Justice, on Tuesday, consistently endorsed the Maternity and Paternity Leave Bill. 

PPP legislator, Shazia Marri, presented the bill, which concurs workers as long as a half year of paid maternity and paternity leaves. 

The bill will be just pertinent to public and private area associations of the government capital region. 

Presently, the bill will be postponed in the National Assembly and proclaimed once it gets the consent of most of officials.

As per the bill, the mother will be qualified for a half year paid maternity leave while the dad will get a 1-month paternity leave on the birth of their first child. 

On the birth of the subsequent child, the mother will get a 4-month maternity leave while the dad will be qualified for a 1-month paternity leave. 

The mother will get a 3-month maternity leave while the dad will be qualified for 1 month paternity leave on the birth of their third child. 

Prior this year in January, the Maternity and Paternity Leave Bill was affirmed by the Senate. 

The previous form of the bill had proposed a half year and 3 months of paid maternity and paternity leaves respectively.
