Pakistan has had very few difficult past months and that’s also accounts for cricket. The team has been reshuffled, the coach has been changed, the chief selector is different now, the team is on a new diet, and there is a lot of volatile situations around the PCB with massive pressure on Misbah Ul Haq after the defeat in T20s against Sri Lanka. Next up? Australia!
Misbah also made another bold move sacking Sarfaraz Ahmed, a move that has received a lot of criticism but Misbah Holds strong to his decisions and only time will tell how Pakistan performs against a top side. The lack of playing time for the Pakistan Cricket team might be a big factor in the upcoming series. However, the squads for both formats have been announced and here they are:
Babar Azam (c), Asif Ali, Fakhar Zaman, HarisSohail, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Imam-ul-Haq, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Rizwan, Musa Khan, Shadab Khan, Usman Qadir, Wahab Riaz.
Azhar Ali (c), Abid Ali, Asad Shafiq, Babar Azam, HarisSohail, Imam-ul-Haq, Imran Khan Sr., Iftikhar Ahmed, Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Rizwan, Musa Khan, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shan Masood, Yasir Shah.
The tests, especially, would be vital for Pakistan as they begin their journey of the Test Championship against the mighty Australia and considering how poor Pakistan has been in tests and to top it all off, they haven’t played tests that much. However, Misbah was determined in the press conference and wants the team to play a different brand of cricket. Here are his words:
Our aim is to move up the Test rankings and begin the Test Championship strong. There is a need to play a different brand of cricket, the balance of the squads is reflective of us having options to play aggressive, attacking cricket.
