Pakistan Cricket Board Appoints Grant Bradburn as Head Coach of Men’s Team

Grant Bradburn has officially been named as the head coach of the Pakistan national men’s cricket team. The former New Zealand cricketer will lead the team’s coaching panel for the next two years. Bradburn served as the head coach of the side during the recently concluded home series against New Zealand on a consultancy basis. The Babar Azam-led side defeated the tourists 4-1 in the five-match One-Day International series that took them to the top of the ICC Rankings in the format. The five-match T20 International series was shared 2-2.

Introducing Grant Bradburn as the new Head Coach

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Grant Bradburn as the new head coach of the Pakistan men’s cricket team. The decision was made following a robust recruitment process, and Bradburn is expected to lead the team’s coaching panel for the next two years. With a plethora of coaching experience under his belt, Bradburn is well-versed in the strengths and challenges of the national side. He previously served as the fielding coach of the national men’s side from 2018 to 2020 before he moved to the National Cricket Academy to work on the coaches’ development. Before joining Pakistan, he worked as the head coach of Scotland men’s side.

PCB Management Committee Chairperson Najam Sethi expressed his excitement at Bradburn’s appointment, saying that he understands the Pakistani culture and philosophy of cricket well, making him the ideal candidate to take the team forward. Sethi also reiterated that Bradburn’s appointment is another step in the board’s endeavors to put together a highly qualified coaching panel so that the players can benefit from their experiences and dominate world cricket in all three formats.

Bradburn’s Plans for Pakistan Cricket

With an eye on the prestigious ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 trophy, the Pakistan team management has unveiled a playing style with which it will approach the tournament to be played in October and November. The style branded as “The Pakistan Way” will see the team approach the One-Day Internationals in the build-up and during the mega-event with positive and bold tactics and attacking strategies.

Pakistan is scheduled to feature in a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan before the 50-over ACC Asia Cup. The national side will use these opportunities to test their potential, experiment with the bench strength, and fine-tune the side ahead of the global event.

Mickey Arthur on The Pakistan Way

Team Director Mickey Arthur said that if a team wins without a culture, brand, or style, it may work for a short period, but it will eventually fall. However, if a team is losing with a culture, brand, and its own style, then it is moving in the right direction. The team management will emphasize the importance of building a culture where a player’s success is enjoyed by everyone and creating an inclusive environment where anyone can speak up at any time, and everyone is treated equally, eventually resulting in on-field success.

With the appointment of Grant Bradburn as the head coach of the Pakistan men’s cricket team, the board has taken a step towards putting together a highly qualified coaching panel. The team’s playing style, “The Pakistan Way,” aims to approach the One-Day Internationals with positive and bold tactics and attacking strategies. With Bradburn and Arthur leading the team’s coaching panel, the players are set to benefit from their vast experiences, and the board hopes that the team will dominate world cricket in all three formats.
