The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported that the production of petroleum products experienced a 3.82 percent increase during the period of July-February 2023-24, with its indices rising from 89.33 to 92.74 compared to the same period in 2022-23. However, in February 2024, there was a notable decrease of 16.85 percent compared to February 2023 and 18.99 percent compared to January 2023.

High-speed diesel production saw a growth of 8.01 percent, reaching 3.470 billion liters in July-February 2023-24, compared to 3.213 billion liters in the corresponding period of 2022-23. However, there was a monthly decline of 15.59 percent.

Furnace oil production experienced a 9.43 percent increase, totaling 1.705 billion liters in July-February 2023-24, up from 1.558 billion liters in July-February 2022-23. On a monthly basis, furnace oil registered a negative growth of 17.07 percent and a year-on-year decline of 20.63 percent. Jet fuel oil production decreased by 11.36 percent, amounting to 524.510 million liters in July-February 2023-24 compared to 591.745 million liters in the same period of 2022-23.

Kerosene oil production witnessed a 1.55 percent decline, totaling 63.713 million liters in July-February 2023-24 compared to 64.719 million liters in July-February 2022-23.

In terms of cement production, there was a 3.83 percent decrease in July-February 2023-24, with output totaling 27.099 million tons compared to 28.177 million tons in July-February 2022-23.
