The new 2019-20 cricket season starts from the 14th of September, and PCB has introduced a range of new ideas that is set to change first-class cricket in Pakistan as the first round of action of the four-day first class Quaid-e-Azam trophy is finally about to begin. And while one may be overwhelmed by the sheer amount of changes that are introduced, the “No-toss” rule which would allow teams to bowl first without the toss even taking place as well as the financial penalties for not maintaining over-rates are suggested to be the key features of the latest quota. Playing condition.

And hence for the very first time, in accordance with clause 13.4 of the PCB playing conditions 2019-20, the captain of the visiting team will be allowed the option to bowl first after taking into consideration the conditions which the pitch faces.

If however, the captain of the visiting team decides against such an event, the more conventional method of the toss of a coin will take place.

The clause says : “Before the toss, the visiting team captain shall be offered the option to bowl first. If he decides so, the toss (Usual spin of the coin) shall not take place. If the visiting team is undecided then a normal toss (Usual spin of coin) shall take place.

In case the teams are playing at a neutral venue, the home team will be deemed the team, which is mentioned as “Home” in the schedule.”

The reason behind the introduction of such a rule is so the visiting side is provided with a fair opportunity as the home side may take advantage of the home surface – if there is any.

There also has been made a very clear distinction as to how teams will end up accumulating points. They will be derived on the basis of the match result along with performances based on the first innings – in both the batting and bowling departments.

If a team wins, it will be awarded with 16 points, while five and nine points will be awarded in case of a draw or a tied game.

If the case arises where the final of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy ends in a draw, the winner of the match will be decided on the basis of the first innings of the game.

If the situation arises where the first innings is not subject to completion within the scheduled duration which happens to be five days –the match will continue so that the first innings are completed by both the sides playing the game.
