With the formal end of the PSL season, a season which brought a wide array of feelings to the table after it had to be ended before the eliminators and final took place, a season which saw a lot of stars rise up to the occasion and finally a season which did in fact end on a high after play resumed from where it stopped in November. The season kept us all the edges of our seats and it was a good season of cricket which saw, Karachi Kings, under the leadership of captain Babar Azam lift the trophy to become the champions of Pakistan for the first time ever.
With that being said, it is now time to move towards the next season of cricket and according to the latest reports, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are going to hold the highly anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 draft on January 9, 2021 which should excite many cricketing fans throughout the country. The draft was initially rumored to take place at the National Stadium Karachi, however, as per recent developments, it is found that the venue will now be the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore in the open air.

Keeping in mind the restrictions imposed due to the outbreak of the COVID-19, PCB was looking for an open-air venue to host the formal ceremony and well Gaddafi Stadium turned out to be the best solution to that problem as according to sources, PCB has approached the Punjab government for the approval of the venue. The draft shall be restricted to important officials only and the attendees will be kept at a minimum due to the outbreak. It is worth noting that the retention window for the PSL franchises is currently open and is expected to close in the next couple of days. Each franchise have been allowed to retain a maximum of 8 players from their PSL 5 squad, all others shall be put in to auction.
PSL 2021 is scheduled to start from February 20 which has been confirmed by the PCB Director High-Performance Centre Nadeem Khan and as per the director, no delays are expected to take place. In addition, Khan has also ensured the people that many foreign players have confirmed their availability for the tournament. All the matches will be played behind closed doors and in a bio-secure bubble. The tournament is expected to be held at only two venues this time, with Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, and National Stadium Karachi expected to be the places to host the cricket festival.
