The Punjab Education Department has introduced a temporary modification to the school dress code for both private and government institutions during the winter season. In an official communication to relevant authorities, the department has specified that there will be no restrictions on students, allowing them to wear sweaters and jackets of their choice.

This temporary relaxation is applicable for the months of January and February. Previously, students in Punjab were obligated to adhere to a specific dress code.

The decision aims to alleviate the financial burden on parents and ensure the well-being of children, particularly in the cold weather. Education sector experts have praised the move, considering it a positive step to address both the harsh weather conditions and economic challenges.

Earlier this month, the Punjab government announced the winter vacation schedule for schools. As per the notification, students throughout the province will have winter vacations from December 18 to January 1, 2024.
