The most recent move from Qualcomm was to announce its latest Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset. The chipset builds upon the previous Snapdragon 855 – as it features with slight improvements to what we saw from the chip that Qualcomm introduced not so long ago. It has also been stated already that the ASUS ROG Phone 2 will go on to offer the processor, and now, it looks as if Realme too might have plans for implementing the chipset in one of its devices.

Realme took to its Weibo account to retweet (of is it rewiebo?) Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 Plus post. “Hello, Snapdragon 855+,” Realme went on to add to its shared post.

At the end of the day, there exists the possibility that Realme might just be welcoming the latest addition to Qualcomm’s portfolio – however, then the question arises – why mention the chipset if you have no plans for any devices with it?

Nonetheless, it is no secret that Realme is working on another cutting-edge smartphone. The CEO of the company last month teased a quad-camera phone featuring with a 64MP primary camera and so this might be a potential candidate for the latest of the bunch from Qualcomm. Realme has also confirmed its plans for a device having the capabilities for 5G however, for now, it isn’t at all clear whether or not this is a variant of the aforementioned quad-camera phone or something completely different.

Interestingly enough, considering the fact that Realme actually made use of Weibo instead of the more conventional methods of Facebook or Twitter to mention the processor might just mean that we could be looking at a China-only launch at first if indeed a Snapdragon 855 Plus device is in the works.
