No doubt we are using mobile phones these days to pay for the purchased stuff online, a new research has claimed that these devices will help us lot in shopping than they are doing today.

The report by Ericsson Consumer & IndustryLab, has identified two key scenarios for the beginning.

1) The first scenario is where people will use their smartphone digital assistants to compare prices of the thing they want to buy. We can expect smartphones being used as home restocking assistant, as the report has said that 63 percent of smartphone shoppers want help with price comparisons.

2) The second scenario is when people want help to make purchase decisions, which does push the devices in the direction of a personal shopping advisor.

The research was headed by Michael Björn. Michael Björn is head of research at Ericsson Consumer & IndustryLab, and he says “While fascinating in their own right, fast-changing consumer shopping behaviours are important to understand for anyone involved in 5G, smart homes, consumer IoT and artificial intelligence”.

The research also notes that when consumers will start to employ AI to automate their everyday purchasing, this will create demand for IoT enabled sensors alongside a need for people to connect appliances in their homes.

The report has also noted that advancements in technology are questioning the future of physical stores.

Only fewer people are foreseen going to stores, because the smartphone digital assistants and AR / VR technology will let them not think of leaving the comfort of their homes (or whatever place they are at) to make purchases.
