Korean giants Samsung electronics has just announced four new efficient ISOCELL image sensors as a part of their newest 0.7 micrometers pixel lineup. As per the company, the newly designed sensors aim to expand the ultra-high-resolution offerings to mainstream smartphones. The smaller pixel size will give users more powerful cameras within the bodies of thinly designed smartphones. 

When compared to the previous 0.8 micrometer sensors, the new sensors are 15% smaller and also have had a reduce in height of the camera module by 10% without making an sacrifices on the overall resolution of the camera itself. The Korean giants have claimed that the smaller form factor is going to provide manufacturers with much more flexibility if they wish to add features and a streamlined design. It should be noted that the new sensors have been eloquently designed via advanced ISOCELL Plus and Smart-ISO technologies, which have been specifically designed for a 0.7 micrometer sensor.

Samsung have unveiled 4 new sensors and these are as follows

  1. Samsung ISOCELL HM2: This marks the third 108 MP image sensor that the Korean company have designed after the HMX and HM1. The sensor comes along with built-in Super PD and a faster phase detecting autofocus solution.
  2. ISOCELL GW3: This sensor is 3-generation 64 MP sensor which has been designed specifically for mainstream devices and is embedded with Tetracell and Smart-ISO technologies. The sensor also comes with an electronic image stabilization (EIS).
  3. Samsung ISOCELL GM5: The third sensor from the company is a 48 MP sensor designed for use in telescoping or ultra-wide-angle cameras and offers a staggered-HDR feature for much clearer and vivid pictures. 
  4. ISOCELL JD1: The final sensor revealed to us is a 32 MP image sensor which is  for smartphones that support bezel-less displays with a punch hole or pop-up mechanism.
