Samsung Galaxy X foldable and a transparent display smartphone to be the next trendsetters. Samsung’s much-rumored phone Samsung Galaxy X is a foldable phone that could have a horizontal flip according to a recently appeared patent.
The folding Galaxy X phone is being dubbed by the media, could come alongside a new transparent smartphone with a see-through screen from Samsung.
Samsung is likely to launch it’s Galaxy X foldable smartphone in 2019.
The phone is also expected to be the start of a new category of phones as other manufacturers like Google and Apple will also release their versions of folding phones.
According to the patent appeared recently, this upcoming foldable phone -with wide screen- will be opened and closed like a book.
The wider layout of the phone could be ideal for watching movies with a full screen minus those top & bottom black bars.
The patent does not only show the folded open screen in use as one giant screen but also it shows multitasking with emails open on one screen alongside the icons on the other one.

This way of operating a phone seems very much like a landscape version of Samsung’s current multi-window option, which could be ideal for this layout & perfect for work use.
The patent does suggest that the phone will fold in a way that lets the phone be propped up in portrait mode as if on a stand.
According to another patent Samsung is looking into transparent smartphones. The patent for a transparent phone did show a glimpse of what the future of augmented reality has in store for the smartphone market.
A transparent phone that is a with a see-through screen would mean that the display, in conjunction with the camera, could display data over the real world objects.
So, we can expect one day to be able to hold our phones up to a cinema as we walk by and have all the film times & information displayed, or over a pair of shoes to see how much they cost online, for instance.
The company has already shown off a transparent television back in 2015. So, the idea of scaling that tech down for phones may not be far-fetched.
